Sean: Just wanted to say how honored I am to be listed on your "smart person's" list.

I had a client who googled my name and your blog popped up and they read it (loved it) and noticed my name on your list.

WOW, thanks!

Rob, good call on both suggestions. i submitted my blog url to both mxna and fullasagoog. we'll see if they take it.

That Service Snapshot app is sweet - having different profiles of services you can run is what i was after w/ my bat scripts. looks like they just wrapped the same idea into a nice gui. For me the resource problem is (at least for now) moot- i just got rid of my craptop and setup my new inspiron 9300 w/ 2 GB of RAM and virtual PC w/ win2k, win98 and winNT OS's. it's nice cause i can clone the base installs and mess them up all i want and then just trash them. very cool. thanks for the tip!

Sean,

Not sure if you saw this yet, but check out Shlomy's Service Snapshot Manager. It offers a batch file-less way to handle what you aer doing from the system tray:
