Neil,
short answer to your questions is I don't know- we're no longer active in the PPA beta and I had only tried it from the advertiser's perspective so I don't have the publisher's perspective to offer.

I do know that you put your products up in a directory and affiliate sites choose you. Spotting fraud via spot checks might work but again wouldn't be foolproof for the scenario I proposed in the post (serving the tracking script on the thank you page intermittently). Thanks for the offer on participation in your study but at the moment we're occupied with other activities for our company. I'll keep you in mind though if this becomes a future need for us.

Hi,

I was very interested in your post. I run a consultancy service supplying click fraud consultancy services.

I have no experience of referrals programme, and I am trying to guage how effective PPC click fraud monitoring techniques would be on the referral network.

For Example:

Can you select particular sites where your ads are displayed in the same way you can with pay per click on the content network?

If you were able to spot click through's from a particular domain or IP address do you feel you could spot the fraud.

I am always looking for case study candidates to do free click fraud studies I would love to analyse a referrals campaign. If you would like to participate

I enjoyed this post a lot. Quite interesting information. I think the biggest problem for you might be the number of people that would display affiliate ads that would be interested in a jump box. That's a pretty technical product for someone to buy through an affiliate link.
