Seconded clint
I too had initial probs with the imports (wrote my own script which would allow restart/resume)
But in 5.1 just finished importing ca. 40,000 contacts no probs
Main problem I have atm is speed .... faster ... faster .... 5.1 is better ... but i still wish it were faster .....

For the import and Safari issues you list above, it sounds like you aren't running the new Sugar 5.1. This latest version of Sugar has a completely reworked import module that can import tens of thousands of records with significantly better error handling. Also, with the patch A for 5.1 you get full Safari support.

Also you will find that email in Sugar 5.1 is faster than in 5.0.

Glad you enjoy it!

Thanks for the great article.

Readers need to know that Sugar has had some problems with data corruption, particularly when doing a patch / bug fix / upgrade. NEVER do these without first backing up all your data and any code you may have added. Also, make sure to take screen shots of reports (some upgrades made them disappear).

Hey Sean, thanks for a fabulous article.

Just FYI that I regularly use Skype from my laptop with an EVDO (not even Rev-A) connection via PC card, and am not experiencing any of the serious latency issues you mention.

The card I'm using is a ZTE My39, one of the older and slower cards out there, on the Telus network in Canada.

Not sure how this measures up to Verizon/Sprint, but here's what Telus is posting as their specs.

http://www.telusmobility.com/on/1X/index.shtml

Hope you can troubleshoot and get the same great results that I am. Long live mobile broadband!

Because we distribute the JumpBox for SugarCRM and we try to do the "eat your own dogfood" thing. I know you guys have a good CRM system but that would be like if you were using Salesforce internally to sell to sell it to your customers.

Just as a side note, the features you are missing from vTiger are available in SugarCRM, they are just not part of the Open Source package. Their are plugins for adding that to sugar OS if you really need them though.

If you want outlook integration with sugar OS, then you can buy the network subscription for the users that need it. Its less than half the price of a pro subscription and includes the outlook and thunderbird plugins.
