Martin, yes the principles set forth in the book are universal – think of it like a "physics course for entrepreneurship." It will definitely be relevant regardless of the culture.

Hello! Thank you for the interesting critique! One general question on the book: Do you think that it can be applied to "non-US-entrepreneurs" as well? We all know that the entrepreneurial environment in the US is very special – and thus the book applies to this special environment. As I come from Germany, I am asking myself if I should read this book and if I can really also get something out of it.

Startup has always been about trial and error. Important thing is to adapt quickly or fail since you do not have the comfortable financial cushion of a well-established company. Thanks for the recommendation, will put it on my reading list, especially if it is on your top 1-2 list.

This part of your post made me buy the book: "the examples in the book of Costco, Go and Skype hammered these lessons home and showed how you can not only grow your own business but actually suck the oxygen out of the room for others and create impossible living conditions for your competitors."
